Is anyone else a bit apprehensive about planning a vacation this year due to the looming fuel crisis?

This is the first year in 3-4 years that my wife have been able to travel and I'm in dire need of a serious vacation. We have the means to go places and have been considering a nice Costa Rica vacation where we'd get two places, one for each half of the week and then drive around ourselves. But after being burned (twice) by covid cancellations, I'm really anxious that a) flights are going to be cancelled or b) we'd be fighting fuel rationing/outages during the trip. We're in the US and I guess there are plenty of domestic destinations, but the few people I've voiced my concerns with all think I'm being way too paranoid about everything.
