How do you move from “safe/neutral” dressing to a more intentional style?

Had a session yesterday that made me rethink how I approach clothing. I realized I’ve been defaulting to “good enough” outfits for years — mostly neutral, functional pieces that don’t really feel like anything.

For context, I’m 37 and my wardrobe is mostly basics (think neutral tops, simple jeans, nothing very fitted or expressive).

I don’t want a complete overhaul, but I’d like to start dressing in a way that feels more intentional and a bit more like “me.”

Where would you suggest starting if you’ve been stuck in very safe, neutral outfits for a long time?
