Lanzarote ACE to London LGW - EES check queues?

I'm flying to Lanzarote soon (from the UK) with my elderly parents who are concerned about the wait time on the way home, and missing the flight.

We will be flying back home to LGW from ACE on a Saturday at midday. 5 adults, mostly carry-on luggage with 1 checked bag between us.

Can anyone advise on their experience of the queues, wait times, general experience? Anything to settle the nerves or provide us with information to create a plan that makes them feel more comfortable?
