Flash Photography Advice for a Specific Scene/Environment

Hi All,

I am looking for advice on how to photograph, with flash, a water tank with sting rays in. The concern is glare from the glass tank and glare from the water if shooting from above the tank.

Attached are 3 pictures of the different angles one could possibly photograph this scene. It is the tank of rays at the Tampa Bay Rays baseball stadium.

I am using flash because as a part of this long-term body of work made at stadiums, I am using flash as an aesthetic guide. Moreover, this stadium is domed, so the ambient light will be terrible, I can't image the shutter being any faster than 1/8 without flash, and that is probably generous. It is realistically more like 1/2 to 1sec plus. Tripods are not allowed in stadiums.

The best thing I can think of right now is hoping I can get a cable past security for off-camera flash, which would probably be most useful if sitting in the seats next to the tank, putting the lens on the glass below the water, and firing the flash above the tank over the water.

Any help would be appreciated!

I could always focus on people interacting with the tank and how the tank juxtaposes the overall stadium environment, but actually seeing the rays in the tank would be better than not.
